My inspiration behind this piece was to capture a moment within nature that conjures up memories of childhood and carefree innocence. Growing up in South Africa, every year the fields on the farm were covered in these beautiful wild flowers that, as a child, I would love to go wade through and pick. Using oil paints, I created a soft out-of-focus background to emphasizes the delicate cosmos, set in a field of vivid greens, yellows and splashes of blue and purple.
