  • The art of transient beauty and the traditional Japanese custom of Hanami (flower viewing) formed my inspiration for this painting. Using oils, I first created the bokeh style background to highlight the delicate cherry blossoms, in an almost 3-D style, forming an essence of alchemy throughout. Working in sections across this large canvas, my aim was to create a sense of gentle fluidity and harmony within the vibrant hues of blue, green and pinks orbs.
