Artists Inspiration & Process:
An abundant gathering of anemones, delicate blossom and trailing branches, Anemone Love Affair is a celebration of the quiet romance found in nature.
Pale blushes, soft lilacs and creamy whites unfold against an atmospheric blue-grey ground, creating a sense of lightness and movement. The anemones seem to dance among the foliage, their open faces and delicate petals drawing the eye from one blossom to another, while the blossom-filled branches weave through the arrangement like threads of memory.
Painted intuitively and with expressive, layered brushwork, I wanted to capture more than the beauty of the flowers themselves - the feeling of being completely immersed in them. There is something wonderfully fleeting about a bouquet: flowers at their most abundant and beautiful, before they inevitably change.
For me this painting is about love, abundadnce and the joy of noticing beauty in the moment. A little romance between flowers, colour and paint - a love affair with nature itself.
