Artists Inspiration & Process:

Roses, with their delicate petals and brilliant hues, are often associated with love and passion. In traditional art, roses can evoke feelings of passion and beauty, reflecting the intensity of love or serving as a metaphor for the fleeting aspect of life.

I wanted to paint a statement rose to symbolising love and purity. Creating a dramatic and minimalist background firstly, I continued to work on painting each petal, focusing on both colour and light with the addition of delicate water droplets cascading over the petals. Intricate details of reflection and transparency create a sense of striking delicacy within this piece.
