Artists Inspiration & Process:

Cherry blossoms symbolize the transient nature of life, as they bloom only for a short period each year. They often represent beauty, renewal, and the ephemeral nature of existence.

The art of transient beauty and the traditional Japanese custom of Hanami formed my inspiration for this painting. Captivated by the effects of light and the interplay of shadows on these diaphanous subjects, I incorporated a sense of energy and movement within the muted background and mark-making, with the off splash of gold and splash marks, for a semi-abstract piece.
