Artists Inspiration & Process:

An expressive celebration of flowers in movement, colour and light. In Flower Dance, flowers seem to come alive in a moment of gentle movement, their petals, leaves and stems weaving together in an almost rhythmic dance. Proteas rise boldly through the composition, surrounded by softer blooms, delicate seed heads and sweeping foliage, creating a sense of wild abundance and natural harmony.

I was drawn to the way flowers move and grow in nature - their irregular shapes, unexpected colours and quiet energy. Rather than simply capturing their appearance, I wanted to capture something of their spririt and presence: the feeling of being surrounded by flowers as they sway, overlap and reach towards the light.

The deep greens create a feeling of earthiness and depth, allowing the blush pinks, lavender, creamy whites and touches of gold to emerge with a luminous quality. Loose exprressive brushwork adds to the sense of movement, allowing the flowers to feel as though they are dancing together within the painting.

Flower Dance in ultimatley about the joy of nature - the beauty found in its spontaneity, its imperfections and its constant movement.
